Moving Secaucus Forward (formally Take Back Secaucus) grew from a need to once again give Secaucus Residents a sense of community and trust in their local leaders. Nearly ten years later, we look back in awe at the accomplishments that been made in such a relatively short period of time. Below we highlight just some of our major accomplishments; however, lives are changed for the better on a daily basis in our community in ways that are often out of the spotlight. Secaucus named based place to raise a family

Many New Jerseyans know Secaucus as a major junction stop on NJ transit train lines, but this Hudson County gem has so much more to offer than its convenient location.

Parks and Recreation

Almost every park has been completely renovated in the past 8 years. This includes a brand new ice rink, new playgrounds, and additional green space throughout Secaucus. 

Upgrade 9-1-1 System

Resident's safety remains a key focus of the administration. The Secaucus Police Department's new and improved 911 system went live on Dec. 13. The system, manufactured by Motorola Inc., cost the department $160,000. Police Lt. Wayne Bruton said the upgrade was made "to enhance public safety.” The system includes software that allows operators to view calls on a map and also select calls based upon need, he said. The department receives about 69 calls to 911 each day.

Tax Sharing Elimination

After years of tirelessly fighting for what he thought was right, Secaucus Mayor Michael Gonnelli applauds the newly passed 2014 State Budget which includes $6 million dedicated to Meadowlands Tax Sharing payment relief. Mayor Gonnelli, along with his fellow Meadowlands District Mayors, Carlstadt Mayor Will Roseman, Little Ferry Mayor Mauro Raguseo, Lyndhurst Mayor Robert Giangeruso, Moonachie Mayor Dennis Vaccaro, South Hackensack Mayor Frank Cagas and North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco, have been advocating for relief from the burden their communities face when having to tax their local residents every year more than $7.5 million so that these Tax Sharing payments can be made. The $6 million included in this year’s State budget to fund Tax Sharing represents almost 80% of the total amounts due from each municipality.

It has taken three years of wrangling among members of the Secaucus Town Council, but residents will for the first time be able to view council meetings at home on cable TV.
