Tax Sharing Elimination

After years of tirelessly fighting for what he thought was right, Secaucus Mayor Michael Gonnelli applauds the newly passed 2014 State Budget which includes $6 million dedicated to Meadowlands Tax Sharing payment relief. Mayor Gonnelli, along with his fellow Meadowlands District Mayors, Carlstadt Mayor Will Roseman, Little Ferry Mayor Mauro Raguseo, Lyndhurst Mayor Robert Giangeruso, Moonachie Mayor Dennis Vaccaro, South Hackensack Mayor Frank Cagas and North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco, have been advocating for relief from the burden their communities face when having to tax their local residents every year more than $7.5 million so that these Tax Sharing payments can be made. The $6 million included in this year’s State budget to fund Tax Sharing represents almost 80% of the total amounts due from each municipality.
